Photography has been a part of my life since a 7th-grade art teacher taught me how to use a darkroom. I've used a wide variety of cameras over the years, from simple "point-and-shoots" to 35mm SLRs to the DSLR I use today. Digital's great and has so much more immediacy and flexibility than film; yet I sort of miss those days in the darkroom's red-light glow.

I've always had a creative streak; it just hasn't always focused on photography. There have been some years I never even picked up a camera because my artistic muse had other ideas. Other times, I shot photos primarily to capture family and vacation memories or as reference for a variety of other artistic endeavors.

Now, photography itself is the focus of my creative output. I enjoy its immediacy...and that I no longer have to juggle film canisters! I look for beautiful color, sweeping vistas, interesting close-ups, and unusual subjects--striving for artful composition and intriguing light. I've traveled to several countries and throughout the U.S., and my camera usually comes along. So my photographs also take me back, almost magically, to those nearby and far-flung places I've been--to experience again the sights and sounds of those locales.

Ansel Adams once said, "A photograph is usually looked at--seldom into." Yet photography provides a unique perspective--that of the photographer--that helps us look into the world around us. It is my hope, as you view my work, that you're able to experience a touch of the beautiful, serene, chaotic, and, perhaps, overlooked places in our world.
