Meiji Jingu Offerings
The Meiji Jingu (Imperial Shrine) is Tokyo's most important Shinto shrine; it is where the Emperor Meiji and his empress are enshrined. The emperor is largely credited with modernizing Japan during his reign (1868-1912). Each year, a wall of straw-wrapped sake barrels are given as an offering by Japan's sake brewers.
